10 Years of BP Sponsorship
Final year students at Robert Gordon University’s Gray’s School of Art in Aberdeen are preparing for the school’s annual Degree Show, now in its 128th year, and sponsored by BP for the tenth year running.
This year’s talent showcase will be launched on Friday, June 14, providing an opportunity for visitors to see emerging creative talent and engage in discussion about the ideas behind the work.
Over the years Gray’s Degree Show has become a firm favourite with the Aberdeen public, with a range of final year undergraduate projects spanning fashion and textiles, ceramics and jewellery, product design, graphics, digital media, visual communication, painting, printmaking, sculpture, photography and electronic media.
Professor Paul Harris, Head of Gray’s School of Art said, “BP’s support over the last ten years has seen the Degree Show become one of the hottest tickets in town, helping to bring a new audience to view and buy the students’ work.”
Visitors to the Degree Show will see an exhibition that reflects the very best of contemporary practice involving the integration of digital technologies alongside photography, animation, time-based and interactive media co-existing and complementing high quality work produced through the traditional studio processes that Gray’s is renowned for.
Tim Smith, Vice President Communications & External Affairs, BP Scotland, said:”BP is delighted to be celebrating 10 years of sponsorship of the Gray’s School of Art Degree Show which is a much anticipated highlight in the North East cultural calendar.”
Paul Harris added, “We are very grateful to BP for their continued support of the Degree Show. Their involvement provides an added dimension to the Show and gives great encouragement to the School’s graduating cohort of talent. Over the last decade the BP Awards for both Fine Art and Design have become acknowledged and highly cherished accolades representing creative excellence in any arena.”
Gray’s School of Art Degree Show 2013, sponsored by BP, will be launched on Friday, June 14. The show will then be open to the public from Saturday, June 15 to Saturday, June 22 (10am to 5pm throughout the weekend and from 10am to 8pm on weekdays) at Garthdee Road, Aberdeen.
