SPD Poster & Invite (front) copyOctober saw the opening of the 3rd Annual Painting Awards Exhibition sponsored by SPD ltd. The exhibition, which was opened by Principal & Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Ferdinand Von Prondzynski, showcased a selection of work by 2nd and 3rd year Painting students. Nina Goldsmith scooped the £1,250 1st Prize for her piece ‘West Princes Street circa 1909/2013’. Second Prize was awarded to Catherine Ross with Emily Hill taking 3rd prize and completing the list of prizewinners. The Judges, including Mr Neil Robertson, representing SPD ltd, felt the quality of work was so high this year that they decided to award two commendations that were given to Dominic McIvor and Becky Murray.

The lively evening saw further excitement with a kinetic performance from Max Boyla. The performance involved the participation of a member of the audience and Laura Myles from SPD took that role.

The party atmosphere continued throughout the evening and the success of the event was cemented for four students who saw their work purchased.
