Kirsty Russel – GIR
For a number of years Gray’s has operated a Graduate in Residency Scheme, GIR’s (Graduates in Residence) are recent graduates who are invited to return to grays to be imbedded within the studios producing work and making use of the workshops whilst helping the undergraduates with their own work and acting as an example of a external practice. Past GIR’s have used the residency to springboard their career as an artists or to refine their portfolio to gain entry to masters programs.
One of this years Printmaking GIR’s Kirsty Russel has used to time to further develop her practice by producing new work that marks an already visible progression from her degree show which was not even a full year ago. The residencies are a fantastic way for Gray’s to continue to support students who have already achieved highly whilst giving graduates the opportunity to give back to the school that has been such a big part of their lives.
