Niamh White is an independent visual arts and fashion curator working in London. She will be speaking about her current social responsibility projects including Spinning Yarns, a portable exhibition commissioned by the London College of Fashion to travel to audiences in hard to reach places such as HM Prison Holloway. The exhibition features work by Faustine Steinmetz and Phoebe English who hand spin and weave many of the fabrics that are used in their designs. The display will demonstrate how the decoration, shape and form of each of their garments arises from the qualities of the textiles they develop. She will also speak about Hospital Rooms, a new initiative co founded with artist Tim A Shaw that commissions contemporary artists to renovate mental health wards in NHS hospitals.
