Verity’s interest is in the encounter of time (cosmic and human) through history, archaeology, folklore and mythology. Through scrutinising this encounter, she challenges and interrogates historiographical agenda to open up collective narratives from the voices of many, mobilizing imagination, memory and myth. She uses sculpture, sound and moving-image to create a threshold into multiple durations and infinite narratives and most importantly, allow a space in which we might critically reflect on the present, and empower practices and epistemologies which have been historically suppressed and eradicated.
Verity is currently involved with a research group based in London called ‘The Future is a Collective Project’ which critically challenges ideas of future ‘Accelerationism’, ‘Post-humanism’ and ‘Prometheanism’ through considering marginalized ideas and suppressed practices of the past. Through this, the group examine what is missing or ignored in the present, and propose possible sustainable futures that are thought from the position of difference.
